Child Welfare Research Center

Child welfare is vital as it ensures the safety, stability, and wellbeing of our youngest citizens, laying the foundation for a stronger, healthier future. By building evidence on best prevention and intervention practices, the Child Welfare Research Center (CWRC) contributes to nurturing families and communities, that in turn, promote child, family, and community wellbeing. The CWRC actively partners university scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to generate research that shapes effective, evidence-based solutions. Through innovative studies and strategic collaborations, the CWRC works to transform the systems that serve children and families, especially those most marginalized.

Our Vision

Harnessing research expertise to transform child welfare policies and practices—improving outcomes for children, families, and communities involved with or at risk of involvement with child welfare systems.

Our Goals

  • Promote university-community partnerships to enhance child, family, and community well-being
  • Advance knowledge to transform child welfare policy and practice
  • Empower community organizations with actionable, research-based evidence
  • Serve as a hub for child welfare research in Texas and beyond
