Created in 2012, the Maverick Parent & Family Association (MPFA) serves as a critical resource for Maverick families and supporters. Membership for the MPFA gives you amazing benefits, such as scholarship opportunities for your student, discounts at the UTA Bookstore, members-only special events, and much more!

MPFA Membership Benefits

The MPFA offers three membership plans to meet your family’s needs. Each membership plan includes a fee that is only charged at the time of purchase and is considered a tax-deductible gift to UTA. The membership fee covers the entire family, so you’re not paying an additional fee for each person or student in your family.

Become A Member

Includes:

  • A 20% discount at the UTA Bookstore (excluding textbooks and technology)
  • One set of signature postcards
  • Access to a members-only community in the Maverick Family Connection Portal
  • Priority registration for departmental events, such as Friends & Family Weekend

Includes everything in the 1-Year Plan, plus:

  • One I Love My Maverick t-shirt
  • One copy of College Ready: Expert Advice for Parents to Simplify the College Transition

Includes everything in the 1-Year Plan and 2-Year Plan, plus:

MPFA Student Scholarship

The Maverick Parent & Family Association awards three $800 scholarships every fall and spring semester. Currently enrolled students at the University of Texas at Arlington are eligible to apply if they are in good standing with the university and have a family member with an active membership in the Maverick Parent & Family Association.

The scholarship application takes less than 5 minutes to complete and does not require additional documentation. Maverick Parent & Family Association members and their students receive an announcement via email when the application is available for submission. The recipients are chosen through a random selection process from the pool of eligible applicants.

The fall application is made available in September or October, while the Spring application is made available in February or March.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for the MPFA scholarship, applicants must:

  • be a currently enrolled student at The University of Texas at Arlington
  • have a family member with an active MPFA membership
  • be in good academic standing with UTA
  • complete the online application before the designated deadline
