Hip Hop Cabaret

Adjunct Assistant Professor Kelley Smith stage managed the All Stars Project's Hip Hop Cabaret, a high-energy fusion of hip-hop and cabaret featuring music, dance, and spoken word by Bombshell Dance Project, Lejin, and Boogieland, directed by Gabrielle L. Kurlander, in Dallas on April 25-27. Professor Smith teaches stage management in the Design and Technology program at UTA.

KCACTF Awards

After winning top honors in the 10-minute play category in their regional festival, Theatre Arts students Edith Lara and Allison Marshall will attend the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival during the week of April 15 in Washington, DC. There they will collaborate with and compete with regional winners from KC/ACTF's eight regions. UTA's Theatre Arts and Dance Department teaches Playwriting in its BA Program and for Creative Writing majors across COLA.

Omni Hotel Event

April 22, 2025

On Tuesday, April 22, a group of nineteen UTA musical theatre students opened the annual conference for OMNI hotels in Dallas with a show-stopping performance of "The Greatest Show" from the movie The Greatest Showman. The theme of this year's conference was Achieve New Heights, so OMNI wanted a large production number to kick things off. The performance featured Broadway performer Jeff Kready in the Hugh Jackman role, as well as local circus performers Kelli and Julio Ramazini. The cast rehearsed for two weeks for this event, and they were led by a creative team of Theatre Arts and Dance faculty: Austin Eyer, Sarah Fagan, Cody Dry, and Kristina Ortiz Miller.
