Jeanmarie Higgins Published in Theatre Journal

Professor and Chair for the Theatre Arts and Dance department, Jeanmarie Higgins, has published a performance review in the June issue of Theatre Journal. Jet Fuel, a world premiere play written by Amy Evans, was presented in Fall 2024 at Bishop Arts Theatre Center in Dallas. The play follows the 2016 Olympic US women's middle distance running team as they train and compete. Inspired by the experiences of South African Olympian Caster Semenya, the play takes on the difficulties women athletes experience, from financial pressures in their home countries, to suspicion about their gender identities, to competition's effects on friendship. The cast included UTA Musical Theatre graduate, Alli Crabtree.
