Frequently Asked Questions

The CARE Team is a collaborative, interdisciplinary group of university professionals that meets weekly to review and support students exhibiting behaviors that may indicate elevated risk or significant concern.

If you're concerned about a student, you can refer them to the CARE Team by contacting any CARE Team representative. Please provide the student’s name and a brief description of the concerning behavior or situation.

Even if you haven’t observed any specific disruptive or distressing behavior, your concerns are still important. Please share as much detail as possible to help us better understand the context.

Once a referral is submitted, the CARE Team receives the student’s name and ID number via email. This information is shared with all CARE Team representatives ahead of the team’s weekly meeting.
During the meeting:

  • The reported concern is reviewed and discussed.
  • Each member shares any relevant insights or updates based on their area of expertise.
  • A support plan is developed, and a designated team member is assigned to follow up with the student.

Ongoing updates are provided at subsequent meetings to ensure coordinated support and continuity of care.

Please Note: Counseling and Psychological Services are available to consult with the CARE Team. However, in accordance with federal and state confidentiality laws, they cannot share private health or mental health information without the student’s written consent—unless there is an emergency involving an immediate threat to someone’s health or safety.
