CARE Team

The Community Advocacy, Response, and Engagement (CARE) Team at your service.

At the University of Texas at Arlington, we are deeply committed to the safety, well-being, and success of our students. While the University offers a variety of departments and services tailored to students’ diverse needs, we understand some students may be unaware available resources – or may be hesitant to seek help on their own.

To proactively identify and support these students, UTA established the Community Advocacy, Response, and Engagement (CARE) Team. The CARE Team is dedicated to supporting students who may be facing academic, emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges, including those who may pose a risk to themselves or others. Our mission is to provide early identification, supportive intervention, and ongoing education to promote student success and enhance campus safety.

Beliefs

At UTA, we are committed to fostering a culture of care – one where students are empowered to take responsibility for their emotional, physical, and academic well-being. We understand that students may encounter challenges that affect not only their personal success but also overall health and safety of the UTA community.

Although it’s not always possible to predict when someone may need support, certain behaviors or signs of distress can indicate a need for intervention. In such cases, a professional assessment may be necessary to ensure that the appropriate resources and support systems are in place. Our goal is to promote both student success and campus safety.

Addressing these concerns requires a collaborative approach. The CARE Team partners closely with campus resources – including Community Standards, the Student Access and Resource Center, UTA Police Department, and Counseling and Psychological Services – to provide coordinated and compassionate support for students in need.

Together, we work to maintain a campus environment that is safe, inclusive, and supportive of every student’s holistic development and succes.
