Junior Achievement provides economic education programs for students in kindergarten through grade 12. This program enables caring adults to share their experiences with students to show them what it takes to be successful. Junior Achievement educates and inspires students to value free enterprise, business, and economics in order to improve the quality of their lives.

General Service Needs

Local volunteers bring business relevancy to the classroom and reinforce the value of education. JA volunteers share real-world experiences to help students broaden their minds and believe in their own capabilities. JA offers activity-based, interactive instruction that focuses on entrepreneurship, financial literacy as well as work and college readiness.

Tasks Available for UTA Students

Scope of Programs: JA reaches children in grades K-12, Elementary programs are sequential in nature and supplement school curricula. Our hope is to reach students in K and provide them with funding and volunteers yearly so that by the time students reach HS, they have had JA in their classrooms every year.

What student interns do in classroom: Student interns (one or two, team teaching) are trained and placed in schools near where they live. Will receive a kit that contains everything they need for each lesson, Inside kit is a detailed guide that can be followed verbatim to prepare and teach lessons

Time Commitment: One time a week for five weeks, Prep time about 30-45 minutes outside of classroom, In class time 30-45 minutes, upper grades latter time.

Training is provided: Training will teach volunteers techniques on engaging, interacting with, and teaching students. Students will receive their school placements and be able to review their kit.

Our organization hosts community events and educational workshops on mental health awareness, trauma healing, and financial literacy (budgeting, credit, and saving). We offer mentorship programs for youth and women, and provide essential support through our community resource closet.

Lake Pointe Granbury is the combination of TWO non-profit corporations.

Lake Pointe RESOURCE CENTER, INC, is focused on Community support and outreach. Services include: Monthly Parent Support Groups; Advocacy & Referrals; Professional & Parent Education; Raising Awareness & Funding for Lake Pointe Academy (Private School); Family Fun Events and Sibling support groups. Partnering with providers, we host: Pediatric Speech & Language Services; Independent Educational Evaluations, Diagnostic Assessments.

Lake Pointe ACADEMY, INC., is a private independent therapeutic school for children ages 6 through grade 12. The School program is specifically designed to provide evidence and research based academic, emotional, social, language and communication strategies. We focus on the development of skills needed to navigate life beyond the school setting.

General Service Needs

Volunteers are needed in several areas including administrative support, grant writing, clerical, resource development; direct tutoring, in-classroom support, help develop and plan activities and special projects for students, provide child care during evening programs or before/after school program. The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
