Union Gospel Mission is a homeless shelter that provides temporary shelter, beds, meals, showers, and clothing for men, women and children. The mission also provides interdenominational devotional and chapel services as well as educational opportunity referrals for the homeless.

Tasks Available for UTA Students
Volunteers needed to sort clothes in the Mission Store, serve and prepare meals, and provide gardening services. No volunteer training required.

General Service Needs

The main support we need right now is at practices with belaying our climbers on Sundays from 10-12 (except the 3rd Sunday we have it off).

Summary of what your organization does
United Scholastic Children Sports Inc. have been around since 2013. We host different fun events and sports events such as football bowl games in the Dallas Metroplex for the at-risk youth to participate in and provide them with food, trophies, footballs, t-shirts, Gatorade bottles and coolers. We take the at-risk kids in our organization fishing, amusement parks, haunted houses, provide game trucks and much more. These sports events allow the at risk youth to participate in sports and bring the youth, their families and thecommunitytogether. To raise money for these events we work concession stands at the AT&T stadium and Texas Rangers Stadium and we need volunteers to help us succeed.

Providing the at-risk youth with food, sports equipment and fun activities to help them feel included and bridging the gap of feeling separated from their peers who may have more of an advantage than they do.

What tasks are available for UT Arlington students to help with?
Volunteers will work in a concession stand & confirm beginning and ending food inventories; prepare appropriate levels of food product & minimize food product waste.

Our USACE NRM Innovations Team is dedicated to finding new resources and developing new technologies in order to make our work force more efficient in our Recreation and Natural Resources Missions, but also is dedicated to creating technologies for a new and enhanced recreational experience for our recreating public.

App Builders, website builders, software engineers, game builders, projection and holographic technology, virtual reality, 360, augmented reality, databases, and other new or cutting edge technologies.

Every year our team works on anywhere from 8-15 Innovations, and we depend on partners to help us develop them. Most fall into these categories:

The United Way of Tarrant County VITA program, provides tax preparation services to families in Tarrant County that make $58,000 annually or less. There are 3 locations in Arlington, 1 in Mansfield, and 8 in Fort Worth. The VITA sites open in January through April. Extended hours begin in June through October at two Fort Worth locations and 1 Arlington location.

Tasks Available for UTA Students
Students can participate by becoming a VITA Certified Tax Preparer to help the need at the Arlington VITA sites locations. Please remember, students can volunteer at any Tarrant County VITA site location they choose. Training is provided at the UTA campus for students interested in volunteering with this program.

Uplift Community Development was created in 2005 as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded by Dr. Maurice Pugh with the mission to uplift communities one family at a time. This mission is accomplished through children and youth advocacy, community enrichment events, and soon to be adult education and employment opportunities. Uplift operated based on the core belief that services should be offered with a family-centered approach that strengthens each member of the family for future success while seeking to break cycles of poverty.

1. Mentoring:
   Uplifts Mentoring Program is to designed to connect men and women to students in our local communities to impact their lives by:
   
   • Helping students reach their potential
   • Guiding students through life experiences
   • Providing students with a positive influence
   • All while allowing Mentors the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child.
   
   
2. Tutoring
   Provide an opportunity for every student to improve their academics along with building self-esteem in what they can achieve
   
   • Deliver an educational program designed to build the foundations of their future success by helping them to become independent learners;
   • Help students within the program to achieve their personal education goals;
   • Deliver programs for each student to cultivate the learning skills necessary for life success
   
   
3. General Volunteering
   When Uplift partners with a school, not only do we provide Tutoring and Mentoring, but we do our best to provide the school with volunteers for school-affiliated events. This includes events such as:

• Career Day
• Field Trips
• Festivals
• Reading Days
• First Day of School Encouragement

Uplifts Tutoring Program was formed to create an environment that provides comprehensive, focused learning that prepares students grades 5th – 8th for academic and life success.  

The Urban Inter-Tribal Center of Texas is a non-profit American Indian corporation dedicated to improving the health and socio-economic status of American Indians living in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

General Services Needs
Services provided include a Medical Clinic, Dental, Emergency Social Services, Counseling, Employment Assistant and Training, and Health Education. Volunteer training is required.

We are a non-profit program that provides an exciting science show-mainly chemistry based-for K-12 students to pique their interests in science and hopefully inspire them to study STEM subjects in higher education. Most of our presentations are done on campus, but we also participate in Family Science Night for many local elementary and middle schools.

We are looking for PR help to further promote our program.

Tasks Available for UTA Students
We would, potentially, like to expand our visitor base. Most of our events are for repeat customers. We would like to participate in more off campus events (particularly during the summer and slower times of the year) and get our name out there to schools beyond Arlington, Ft. Worth, and HEB ISD, which make up the majority of our visitors.
