The Mindful Professor: Prioritizing Well-being for Effective Teaching

We all experience the too busy 'itis', particularly during the beginning, midterm & final parts of each semester, especially during the long semesters. This interactive workshop will include key tips to reduce burnout, be productive & BREATHE through these times. It will include group discussions & 'presentations' of findings from each group! These strategies will directly support your ability to be a more present and effective educator for your students. This session is hybrid. A light lunch will be provided for in-person attendees.

The March 19 SEP Workshop focuses on Growth Mindset and how everyday teaching choices—such as course design, assignments, and feedback—shape students’ persistence, confidence, and sense of belonging. Grounded in Student Experience Project (SEP) research and examples from UTA SEP Fellows, this session highlights how communicating high standards alongside clear support helps students stay engaged through challenge. This workshop is part of the UTA SEP Community of Practice and is open to faculty and staff interested in practical, research‑based strategies they can apply right away.

CRTLE is partnering with the UTA Libraries for this special Test Kitchen session. Bring your favorite “side dish” to the table—except this time, it’s your teaching materials! Just like a potluck, everyone contributes something they already have or have remixed to support their teaching. In this hands‑on, 30‑minute guided session, participants will walk through the full recipe for turning an existing course resource into a side‑dish‑sized Open Educational Resource (OER). No need to start from scratch—facilitators will help you refine, remix, and prepare your resource so others can benefit from it too.

Peer Observation Training with Certificate

The Chef’s Challenge is a high-energy, curriculum-connected competition tied to the CRTLE Technology Test Kitchen that brings experiential learning to life. It emphasizes teamwork, communication, problem-solving, digital integration, and creativity—helping faculty turn classroom concepts into applied learning experiences while building AI and digital literacy skills. As a signature UTA Test Kitchen event, participation also advances faculty through the program’s three-tier recognition pathway: Taste Tester, Sous Chef, and Executive Chef.
