Meet Our Peer Health Educators

Claire Condron, Biology major
The reason why I became a Peer Health Educator is because I enjoy spreading the word about the resources available for Mavericks to be healthy! I noticed that some of my fellow peers had no idea where to find them, so I wanted to be the person they can rely on. It brings me joy when people are thankful for the connections we have on campus!

Aritry Roy, Computer Science major
I'm passionate about empowering our community to make healthy choices and excited to contribute to prevention efforts. This student employment position is giving me a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow in the public health field.

Kim Le, Nursing major
On my journey towards UTA, I encountered experiences that taught me the valuable lesson of being attentive towards one's physical, psychological, and emotional needs. Learning how to do this involved making changes to my life, but it was worth the effort. I became a Peer Health Educator because I believe any person can benefit from this lesson! Knowing I can play a part in keeping others informed on the 9 Dimensions of Wellness motivates me to be an active member of the Maverick community.

Ifrah Shahzad, Public Health Graduate Student
I became a Peer Health Educator because I want to educate those who grew up in environments like I did - where certain health topics, like sexual and reproductive health, were considered taboo - that these conversations are important to have and encourage them to have these conversations, and not feel intimidated to get educated and informed.
