As part of our goal of expanding our community impact in western DFW, UTA is working with industry partners to offer professional training courses in the area that will benefit residents and businesses for years to come.
The University of Texas at Arlington held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for its new UTA West storefront in Willow Park. The event marked the next phase of our transformative project to bring a top tier research university to west Fort Worth.
Wayne Atchley will serve as the inaugural vice president for regional campuses, including UTA West and the Fort Worth Center. He has more than two decades of leadership experience in higher education, most recently as vice president for academic affairs at the Tarrant Community College Trinity River campus.
To facilitate community engagement and provide information about the new campus, the University has opened a UTA West office in Willow Park. Prospective students and their families can visit this location to learn about admissions, advising, financial aid, and other essential services.
After a competitive selection process to identify the best team to design and build the initial facility and related infrastructure for UTA West, UTA chose to partner with HKS, an award-winning global architecture firm, and Hensel Phelps, a leading national general contractor and design-builder.
On April 3, The University of Texas at Arlington broke ground on UTA West during a ceremonial event that marked a major step in the University’s expansion. The groundbreaking ceremony featured officials from UTA, local government and business leaders, and community members.

As we near the end of 2024, we are looking ahead to the new year and the many important milestones that lie ahead for UTA West. In 2025, we expect to make several important announcements about the campus as development kicks into high gear and plans begin to finalize.
UTA has created several opportunities to celebrate its westward expansion with the community, including a Discover UTA West reception for alumni and friends, as well as a presentation to the Parker County Chamber of Commerce.
