Residential Outreach Counseling Program

ROC solid support...right across the hall.

Did you know?

The University of Texas at Arlington has a licensed therapist in each residence hall.

Living on campus means you have more than a place to just sleep and study. It means being part of a supportive community. That’s why we have dedicated counselors available, right down the hall. The ROC team also supports UTA’s campus-owned apartment communities.

Residential Outreach Counseling brings the same high-quality support you’d find at CAPS – right into your residence hall. We’re here to support you with the challenges that come your way. We address stress, anxiety, homesickness, relationships, identity concerns, and anything else that might impact your college experience.
ROC Counselors work to embed themselves into the culture of the residence hall. We provide:

*Individual and group therapy *Drop-in psychoeducational workshops *Outreach programs and events
If your counselor’s door is open, feel free to drop by for a chat.

If you’d like to schedule an individual appointment, call CAPS at 817-272-3671. Let us know which hall or apartment you’re in and that you want to see a ROC counselor.
The first time you come in, you will fill out some forms that tell us a little about who you are and what concerns you have. Then the therapist will meet with you for about 30 minutes to learn more about your concerns.

Next, if it is appropriate, the ROC Counselor will schedule a more in-depth assessment with you.
Call the MAVS TALK 24-hour crisis line to speak with a crisis counselor available 24/7: (817) 272-TALK (8255)

Urgent appointments are available during CAPS business hours for students in crisis. Please call (817) 272-3671 and request to speak with the crisis counselor on duty.
