Reporting A Crime

REPORTING A CRIME

In case of emergency call 817-272-3003 or 911.

The University of Texas at Arlington Police Department (UTAPD) encourages accurate and prompt reporting of all criminal offenses.

To report a criminal incident or emergency on campus, call 817-272-3003.  For non-emergency reports or requests, call 817-272-3381. Police Communications Officers (PCO) are accessible 24 hours a day to answer your call. In response to a call, the PCO will take the information, send an officer, and, if necessary, contact the emergency personnel from other agencies such as the fire department or ambulance service. If necessary, the officer will complete a police report after action has been taken. When deemed appropriate, reports of criminal offenses are forwarded to the Criminal Investigations. To check on the progress of an investigation, please contact 817-272-0895.

Officers are dispatched on a priority basis according to the seriousness of the calls received. Calls of an emergency nature are dispatched immediately. A person reporting a non-emergency incident may expect to experience a short delay.

Emergency phones and panic buttons are located in most campus buildings. Currently, there are 227 emergency call phones installed throughout the campus and elevators (tested regularly) and over 500 panic buttons located in numerous offices/classrooms on campus (tested regularly). These emergency devices are linked directly with the police dispatcher.

Emails to [email protected] aren't monitored continuously.  Any report of criminal activity, suspicious circumstances, etc. should be made to the police emergency or non-emergency numbers.

Additional Safety Resources:

Anonymous Reporting

Anyone wishing to report an issue anonymously should call UTA Police Dispatch at 817-272-3003 and tell the dispatcher they wish to report anonymously.  The dispatcher will ask pertinent information related to the reported issue.

All crimes should be reported to UTAPD to ensure inclusion in the annual crime statistics and to aid in providing timely warning notices to the community, when appropriate.

There are no formal policies that encourage pastoral counselors and professional counselors to inform the persons they are counseling to report crimes on a voluntary, confidential basis for inclusion in the annual disclosure of crime statistics.
