Canvas is a cloud-based learning management system (LMS) by Instructure. Canvas is a modern, easy-to-use, reliable and adaptable LMS that supports current and evolving teaching and learning needs.
Operating Canvas is very intuitive. Mitigating the learning curve found in other learning management systems, Canvas allows Faculty to see essential information for all courses in one location. The Canvas dashboard provides a clear summary of course events and items relevant to the student. Canvas provides students with improved and simplified opportunities for collaboration with instructors and other students
Canvas training and support is available for non-academic uses. UTA's OIT Knowledge Services team will provide basic support and training to non-academic departments and users that want to utilize Canvas. Training sessions are available to UTA’s non-academic staff. Attendees will be introduced to Canvas with a 3-hour hands-on workshop where participants will receive an overview of the system and tools. An online module after the workshop will be a part of the course to reinforce the skills taught. Additionally, assistance and support to employees and departments who wish to utilize Canvas for non-academic purposes will be available on an ongoing basis.
UTA Knowledge Services can be contacted via phone at 817-272-2155 or by submitting a ticket in ServiceNow. Training dates are available online at the following address. https://webapps.uta.edu/BAWeb/
