UTA Mobile Simulation Lab

About the Lab

The UTA College of Nursing and Health Innovation’s Center for Rural Health and Nursing, in collaboration with the SMART Hospital, is proud to introduce the UTA Mobile Simulation Lab (MSL)—a groundbreaking initiative launching in Spring 2025!

Designed to bring state-of-the-art simulation training directly to rural communities, the MSL is believed to be the first of its kind within a rural nursing program in Texas. This innovative, legislatively funded project was created to support UTA nursing students, EMS professionals, and healthcare providers in rural areas.

Through cutting-edge technology and standardized simulation practices, the Mobile Simulation Lab will help strengthen the skills and confidence of the healthcare workforce, ensuring that rural Texas has access to high-quality education and training.

Mobile Simulation Initiatives

  • Delivers high-fidelity, hands-on simulation training directly to rural healthcare settings—bringing advanced learning tools to both practicing professionals and UTA nursing students completing clinicals in rural areas.
  • Reinforces essential skills in critical care scenarios—including obstetrics, trauma, and emergency response—ensuring students and staff are prepared for real-world challenges in low-resource environments.
  • Strengthens rural clinical education by supporting UTA students in the field, while also helping rural facilities with recruitment, retention, and ongoing workforce development.
