Founder's Day Fest

Get ready to party through the decades at Founder's Day Fest! We’re celebrating 130 years of Maverick history with the ultimate throwback-meets-today event. Come dressed in clothes from your favorite decade or century—whether you’re rocking '70s tie-dye, '80s neons, or '90s grunge—and enjoy the best music from the past and present. Let’s make this Founder's Day one for the books and make memories we'll be talking about for the next 130 years.

Homecoming

November 9-15, 2025

Show your Maverick spirit at a week full of unforgettable homecoming traditions like the Chili Cook-Off, the Street Festival, and the 5K Run/Walk/Roll. With the theme of "There's No Place Like (Home)coming," this year's event lineup has activities for all Mavericks who call UTA their "home away from home."

Time Capsule

To help commemorate our 130th year at the Birthday Bash, we invited the community to share a message for future Mavericks to read when they open the time capsule. Mavericks will have another chance to contribute to the time capsule when we celebrate Homecoming.

Library History Exhibit

The UTA Library will be unveiling a new permanent exhibit in its Special Collections later this year. The exhibit will feature all generations of Mavericks and showcase UTA's rich history and excellence over the last 130 years.

130 Birthday Bash at Brazos

The highlight of the University’s yearlong celebration brought students, faculty, and staff together in Brazos Park for cupcakes, ice cream, and a peek into UTA’s storied history that has built it into the community pillar it is today. Read the press release.

Distinguished Alumni Awards

On the eve of UTA's 130th anniversary, more than 400 alumni, administrators, faculty, staff, and friends gathered in the University Center’s Bluebonnet Ballroom for the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Awards. Honorees have made significant contributions to the community, and their accomplishments reflect the University’s legacy of excellence. Read the press release.

UTA Night at the Rangers

In honor of UTA's 130th anniversary, the Texas Rangers welcomed the UTA community for the 130th game of the season. UTA Alumni Relations reserved the entire Budweiser Sky Porch section; the perfect spot to celebrate 130 years of UTA and enjoy the Rangers victory against the Cleveland Guardians!

Teams of five competed in the longest-running UTA tradition, pushing a wheeled bed 40 yards to attempt to run the fastest time at Maverick Stadium.

UTA Day at the Rodeo

Mavericks strapped on their boots and enjoyed the world-renowned Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. This authentic Western tradition has been part of Fort Worth since 1896—making it just one year younger than UTA itself.
