About Us

The University of Texas at Arlington Office of Emergency Management is tasked with creating a university-wide culture of preparedness and response to emergencies. The department coordinates a comprehensive approach to all hazards throughout the emergency cycle, which includes preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation.  

Our Mission: 

  • Administer a comprehensive campus emergency management and continuity program to respond to, recover from, and reduce the effects of risks associated with emergencies of all types and sizes. 
  • Foster partnerships both internally and externally to assist the UTA community in preparing for events that threaten the continuity of the campus mission.

The Office of Emergency Management is responsible for:

  • Developing, revising, and implementing the comprehensive University Emergency Operations Plan. 
  • Providing support to departments in planning for business continuity. 
  • Supervising and coordinating efforts related to emergency planning, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery of campus. 
  • Educating the campus community on the most effective methods to protect themselves. 
  • Organizing exercises and coordinating drills in alignment with plans. 
  • Informing the campus community when there is a state of emergency. 
  • Maintaining the University's Emergency Operations Center.
