Non-Resident Tuition Waiver and Grants

At UT Arlington, non-resident students (a person who is not a Texas resident and who is not entitled or permitted to pay resident tuition) may qualify for either a Non-Resident Tuition Waiver or a Non-Resident/International Grant, depending on the amount of merit-based scholarship they receive.

  • Non-Resident Tuition Waiver
Students who receive higher-tier merit scholarships (such as Presidential Honors, Presidential, Maverick Academic, or top Transfer Honors awards) may be eligible for a tuition waiver. This waiver allows eligible non-resident students to be charged in-state tuition rates instead of non-resident rates.
  • Non-Resident/International Grants
Students who receive lower-tier scholarships may be eligible for a Non-Resident/International Grant. Grants provide a set dollar amount of financial assistance to help offset non-resident tuition costs for students during the fall and spring semesters only. Grant amounts vary by scholarship and may differ for out-of-state and international students.
  • Oklahoma Non-Resident Tuition Waiver
Non-resident students from Oklahoma that also receive a competitive incoming freshman or incoming transfer scholarship will also receive a waiver of the Oklahoma Non-Resident Tuition Increment.

Please note that the non-resident tuition waiver and non-resident/international grants are not guaranteed. They are contingent upon funding and may vary in availability. Eligibility is determined automatically based on the student’s merit scholarship award amount; no separate application is required.

Please note that not all scholarships offered through a department will include the non-resident tuition waiver.
