From the President
Dear Mavericks,
Serving as president during UTA’s 130th anniversary is a profound honor. It’s a rare opportunity to reflect on the generations of students, faculty, staff, and alumni who built this University into the bold, innovative institution it is today—and to imagine where the next generations will take us.
Looking back has been inspiring. I’ve read stories from alumni that span decades, heard memories from employees who’ve been here longer than I’ve been in higher education, and stood in buildings that didn’t exist when some of you walked this campus. It has reminded me that UTA has never stood still. We are, and always have been, a university on the move.
Of course, anniversaries aren’t just for looking back—they’re for celebrating and for planning what’s next. That’s why we’re inviting all of you to join us this September for a birthday bash worthy of 130 years.
Come reconnect, reminisce, and enjoy being part of something that’s still growing, still changing, and still proudly UTA. Find the details at uta.edu/130 as they become available.
This special issue of UTA Magazine is part time capsule, part time machine: a look back at where we’ve been and a glimpse ahead at where we’re going. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope it brings back a few memories of your own.
Go Mavs!
