Joni Carole Gerard

Joni Carole GerardI began working at UTA in 2016. At first, I felt a bit overwhelmed because I was beginning a different career path, but my assistant director encouraged and supported me, and now I get to work for my alma mater!

My career at UTA has evolved, along with my knowledge and skills. I have an accounting degree and think my analytical abilities, thought processes, and problem-solving skills are beneficial in a business analyst position. I was initially hired for my functional skills, and have gained project management skills and greater insight into more technical aspects, like interfaces and business requirements. As I started taking on more responsibility in projects, even filling in for project managers, and learning more about the systems UTA uses, like TCP, I was promoted and am now a Senior Business Analyst.

I enjoy working at UTA because of the opportunities to excel and learn—not just at my job duties, but at anything I desire. There is a cornucopia of knowledgeable employees here who truly love sharing their experiences and guiding you through whatever comes up. I truly believe you will go as far as you desire at UTA, and your hard work will pay off. When I first started at UTA, I could never have imagined I’d be where I am now. I have implemented programs, been instrumental in system configuration and worked with teams across campus. I learned to think outside the box, and am excited to continue learning and growing at UTA.
