Tanya Barlett

Driven by a mission to advance behavioral health care to the military population, Tanya Bartlett, LCSW, BCD is pursuing her PhD at the School of Social Work at the University of Texas Arlington. She brings over 19 years of clinical social work experience, including two combat deployments with the U.S. Army, where she served as a behavioral health officer supporting Soldiers in high-stress environments. Her research interests center on trauma-informed care, suicide prevention, and improving mental health outcomes for combat-experienced veterans. Tanya's work seeks to bridge the gap between military culture and evidence-based practices to enhance service delivery for those navigating the transition from active duty to civilian life.  Tanya has led multiple behavioral health service lines, trained MSW Social Work Interns, developed a marriage and family clinic and organized conferences on provider burnout and moral injury. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (BA) and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Norfolk State University. She is also Board Certified in Clinical Social Work. Tanya values movement, service, and connection-spending her free time rowing, traveling and connecting with her community through mentorship and service.
