Tracy Orwig

Tracy OrwigTracy Orwig is an associate professor of practice and the Director of the Interprofessional Education (IPE) Program at the University of Texas at Arlington’s School of Social Work. Her work in the School of Social Work has centered on developing and implementing IPE initiatives, including several related to child maltreatment. These projects are designed to ensure that social work students collaborate with students from various disciplines on topics related to child welfare. Her background includes working in pediatric emergency rooms, where she collaborates with medical teams on cases involving child maltreatment. She continues to practice in pediatric health care settings, which allows her to stay current with the practices and protocols being implemented in social work. As a faculty affiliate of the Child Welfare Research Center (CWRC), Professor Orwig will contribute her practice knowledge and leverage relationships with the local health care programs to support the center initiatives. She also intends to strengthen her engagement in child maltreatment focused IPE efforts, contributing to innovative projects that ensure students have access to meaningful, collaborative learning experiences as part of their academic journey.
