Tasha Pelletier

Tasha PelletierTasha Pelletier is a PhD student in Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). She holds a Master of Social Work from UTA, with a concentration in Mental Health and Substance Use, and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina. Her research interests include the intersection of trauma, cultural identity, family systems, and social systems, with a particular focus on Indigenous communities, parenting, attachment, youth substance use, and parental substance abuse. Tasha is dedicated to exploring the long-term effects of intergenerational and historical trauma, particularly within marginalized populations. She aims to incorporate culturally relevant practices into mental health care, enhancing the accessibility and effectiveness of therapeutic interventions for Indigenous peoples. Additionally, she is interested in how community-led support systems contribute to building resilience and fostering well-being across generations. Ms. Pelletier’s work focuses on making real changes in child welfare and family systems. Based on her experience working within the child welfare system and alongside Indigenous families and communities, her research is committed to preventing and keeping families together. She looks forward to learning from experienced researchers, gaining hands-on research experience, and being part of a center that informs policy and creates change.
