BSW and MSW Licensure Statement

Exploring Social Work Licensure Requirements

Graduates from our Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Accredited BSW and MSW programs are eligible to apply for social work licensure in U.S. states/territories and Canadian provinces that license social work professionals at the bachelor's and master’s levels.

Our curriculum, through its compliance with CSWE’s Educational Policies and Accreditation Standards (EPAS), encompasses the content included in the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Bachelor’s and Master’s level licensure exams. These exams are accepted in U.S. states/territories and Canadian provinces that have bachelor level licensure. Certain locales may have additional requirements; for information on which states, territories and provinces license at the bachelor and master levels as well as additional requirements where relevant, follow the instructions provided below.
