Advocate, Mentor and Proud Maverick: Vicky Teherani Honored with Hall of Fame Award

Long before she led multimillion-dollar companies or championed scholarships for international students, Vicky Teherani was a young woman navigating a new country and a new campus.

As a student, she built the foundation for a successful career in finance. As an alumna, she’s helped build opportunities for others to follow in her footsteps. Nearly 50 years later, she returns to that same campus to be inducted into the UTA College of Business Hall of Fame.

“I am honored and humbled. It did not really sink in until I found out that Jackie, Sam, John and John were amongst the inductees,” Teherani said. “Their commitment and contribution to the College of Business motivates me to do more and reach higher. I am humbled in receiving this honor.”

Originally from Hong Kong, Vicky moved to the United States in 1976 and enrolled at UTA. She earned her BBA in Accounting in 1979 and later completed her MBA in 1981. Along the way, she met her husband, Siroos, also a UTA MBA graduate, beginning both a lifelong partnership and a shared connection to the university.

“We were part of the UTA family and grew in a nourishing environment while learning,” Teherani said. “It’s so important to us that future generations get to experience UTA for themselves. It’s a nurturing environment to assist navigate your way to widen your horizons.”

Vicky is currently the president and founder of More2Wealth Management, which collaborates with clients to develop solutions to pursue financial security during their working years and retirement. Previously, she was the President and Founder of VT Capital, Inc.; the CEO and CFO of Rolland Safe and Lock Company; the COO of PAJ, Inc.; and began her career at A.H. Belo, serving as Treasurer, General Manager of Management Services and eventually VP throughout her tenure there.

Beyond her career, Vicky has been an advocate for the Asian community and women through her various leadership roles, championing new organizations and giving the Asian community a voice and presence on mainstream boards and community associations.

“I believe each of us brings something valuable to the table, whether it is our skills, intellect, culture or emotions,” Teherani said. “Too often, we lack role models and mentors who look like us, behave like us or speak like us. Representation is critical if we are going to emerge in the mainstream, be part of the bigger picture and be heard.”

Vicky has given back to the UTA College of Business community in a number of ways. She and her husband established the Asia Endowed Scholarship to support international students, as well as the Daniel Himarios Endowed Chair in recognition of Dr. Himarios’ leadership in international business programs.

“We admire the international programs Daniel Himarios established. We knew firsthand that it is not easy to travel and conduct classes in a country, wherein the language and culture are challenging. Dan brought vision, energy and excitement to the program. He inspired us to support him,” Teherani said. “We believe the Asia Endowed Scholarship can lessen the financial burden for the international students so they can gain a broader view of the world, and we know the support system at UTA offers the students a home away from home.”

Vicky continues to serve the university through several leadership roles, including the President’s Advisory Board, the College of Business Advisory Council and the Dean’s Leadership Circle, where she was a founding former member. Vicky was the College of Business commencement speaker in 2022 and in March 2023, she returned to campus as a guest speaker for Business Leadership Week, offering her insight and encouragement to the next generation of business leaders.

When asked what advice she would give to young women or international students pursuing business careers, Teherani offered encouragement rooted in focus and self-awareness.

“Stay focused on the long-term. Ignore the noise. Understand, use and build on your strengths. Improving your weaknesses is overrated. Gender and cultural differences give us compassion and understanding. Learn and lean on your professors and colleagues who will help you to become the best. Have fun and enjoy the journey,” she said.

Vicky Teherani’s story is deeply rooted in UTA, and her continued support reflects a belief in the power of education to transform lives. As she joins the College of Business Hall of Fame, her legacy will continue to inspire future Mavericks to lead with heart, act with purpose and give back whenever they can.
